St. Joseph Summer Day Camp

Frequently Asked Questions

Daily Activities

Will lunches be provided?

Lunch will not be provided. Students will be required to bring a sack lunch daily. We will have a small refrigerator and microwave available for student use. Two healthy snacks will be provided each day.

Are all children required to take naps?

No. Students entering pre-school and kindergarten will be provided mats to rest on during nap time. They will be able to look at books during part of this time. Parents are encouraged to send a small blanket and/or small pillow for use during naptime which will be kept at camp for them. Older students have the option of napping or reading quietly during naptime.

What should my child bring to camp?

All students should have a lunch every day. Nap takers may want to bring a small blanket and/or pillow for naptime. Students may also bring several toys or books from home. Each child should be willing to share their toys during free play. It is the student's responsibility to keep track of these items. We recommend labeling these with your child's name. Toys may be lost or broken at camp. Please leave valuable or fragile items at home. We have plenty of toys for student use.

Medications should be given directly to a camp leader. We will make sure the medication is taken at the right time in the proper doses. We will be going outside several times a day depending on the heat. If you wish that your child have sunscreen applied at those times, please bring a bottle labeled with their name. Some days we will be spending longer than a half hour outside. In this case, an email will be sent to parents, and all students will wear sunscreen.

Tennis shoes are advised. Shoes must be worn at all times, even during nap time, for safety purposes.

We advise that each student bring a change of clothes in case of accidents or messes. These can be left at camp.

Any weapons, including toy guns, ropes, baseball bats, and knives are strictly prohibited.

Each student will have a specified location to store anything they bring to camp.

Leadership

What is the adult to student ratio?

We will maintain a strict ratio of 1 adult to every 16 children over the age of five. Groups consisting of students between the ages of two and four will have a ratio of 1 adult to every 10 students. Enrollment for the camp will be capped at 26 total students.

Note: To maintain these ratios, we will not be able to accept more than 10 students under the age of five.

Financial

 When are payments due?

For each session, the full payment is due during the first week of the session. Cost per child depends on the number of days attending camp per week, and whether the child will require aftercare (between 3:30 and 5:30 pm).

What are the payment options?

For each session of camp, parents may choose the appropriate plan based on their needs. Options A and B allow parents to choose which days their child may attend camp. Because of the need to maintain appropriate teacher:student ratios, children will only be allowed to attend on these pre-chosen days.

Option A1 (Regular Care Only): Child(ren) may attend up to TWO (2) days (of your choice) per week between the hours of 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM. Cost is $160 PER CHILD for the entire session.

Option A2 (Regular Care + Aftercare): Child(ren) may attend up to TWO (2) days (of your choice) per week between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM. Cost is $200 PER CHILD for the entire session.

Option B1 (Regular Care Only): Child(ren) may attend up to THREE (3) days (of your choice) per week between the hours of 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM. Cost is $240 PER CHILD for the entire session.

Option B2 (Regular Care + Aftercare): Child(ren) may attend up to THREE (3) days (of your choice) per week between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM. Cost is $300 PER CHILD for the entire session.

Option C1( Regular Care Only): Child(ren) may attend up to FIVE (5) days per week between the hours of 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM. Cost is $400 PER CHILD for the entire session.

Option C2 (Regular Care + Aftercare): Child(ren) may attend up to FIVE (5) days per week between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM. Cost is $500 PER CHILD for the entire session.

Will I have to pay for days that my child does not attend camp?

We will not be able to provide refunds for days that a child does not attend camp. However, you may choose a separate payment/attendance plan for each session.
