7th & 8th Grade Homeroom
I teach Literature and Grammar to 3rd through 8th grade. In literature, students read short stories in a reading textbook in order to be exposed to various authors writing and many forms of poetry. Some of our books are read on Nooks so students are exposed to various forms of media.

We use Shurley English for grammar to learn how to label the parts of speech in a sentence. Shurley uses jingles and interactive ways to help students remember the rules in using parts of speech. It is challenging but fun for the students and parents.

Our classrooms have smart boards so students have hands on experience and interactive lessons. We use Chromebooks in class and they learn to present their own work through Google Slides and Prezi

7th and 8th grades are buddies with Kindergarten and 1st grade students and work together to complete projects, read and sit together in Mass.

Write books, poetry, stories, and make artwork that can be submitted in our Regional Language Arts Fair where it is judged with many other areas students' work
We also send students to compete in the area Spelling Bee.
The 8th grade class passes on a St. Joseph tradition.
